Popular spin arena gets renovation ahead of Redbull event
16 spinners will battle it out at the newly renovated venue to be the first Red Bull Shay’ iMoto champion.
One of Johannesburg’s longest running spinning arena’s, Wheelz n Smoke in Alberton, south of Johannesburg, is getting a renovation ahead of the Redbull Shay I’moto event that will be hosted there on the 19 October 2019.
In the video posted on Wheelz n Smoke’s page you can hear what sounds like the owner of saying, “can you see we are working….right now we are knocking off, everything is coming together, tomorrow at this time we will take pictures, claim that the ‘township’ has risen and say ‘AZISHE’ [It’s on]”.
He further explains “this is the extra piece we have added on, it’s over 4 metres. You see how the concrete barriers have been removed and it looks like a mess. Here is the new place Mthizo, 1, 2, 3, 4 metres.
This event has had spinning fans very excited because unlike other events, this event is by invite only for the ‘best’ spinners and these spinners will be competing against each other to be crowned the best spinner of the night.
16 invited spinners go head to head in an innovative competition format to be crowned the first Red Bull Shay’ iMoto champion.

Katra
If ‘no fear’ was to be expressed as a person, Katra would be his name. He is young, hungry and undoubtedly one of the most popular in the sport right now. Katra is known for his crazy high speed and high risks stunts and is bound to impress.
Sam Sam
Sam Sam started spinning at a very young age and was mentored by Jeff James. He is respected as one of the best in spinning. He won ‘So You Think You Can Spin’ and established himself as a household name in African fans’ social media feeds.
Kayla
The little dynamite package hails from Kimberly. Small in stature but explosive on any given pitch. Well respected by her fellow spinners as the best female spinner right now, she is not scared at all to kick it with the big boys, throwing down high end stunts.
Austin
This young spinner has a huge fan base, and a huge bag of stunts that he is able to throw down on any given pitch with one of his many multiple cars. Ruthless on his competition, he is here to win.
Allison
This girl throws it down proper. Her facial expressions let the fans know that she is a dominant force in the spinning community. She only knows 1 way to spin – foot flat!
Bad Company
Bad Company is the most booked entertainment package in the spinning industry. Every weekend these guys get fans up on their feet with there team tactics, tricks and stunts.
Sunesh
Respected as a veteran in the sport, He has over 14 years of hard-earned experience. A well calculated technical spinner, he is able to place his car exactly where he wants it during his rounds.
Veejaro
His rounds consist of flamboyant 360s, deep kitchens and mad amounts of smoke. Finds himself quite at home in competitive spinning.
Tina
A solid, well-rounded spinner, this girl can spin through a technical course with ease and grace, whilst smoking them rear tyres to a total destruction of rubber.
Dayne Hill
Hardcore, never say die attitude! Ready to sacrifice his ride for the entertainment of the fans. He will put it on the wall for the extra points.

Hailing from the coast this spinner is well known for high-speed slides and multiple crazy flips. His laid-back and friendly nature belies a true competitor. This man is ready to bring the coastal flavour to the pitch.

This young gun has taken the scene by storm! He may be young, but there is no doubting his hardcore roots. The kid is willing to spin at high speed to achieve the win and claim the fame.
